Regardless of the security designation, your first walk through the prison gates will be surreal for you and your loved ones. As you enter the facility, worst fears become reality. This is only the beginning. It's going to be a long day. As a matter of fact, your first week inside will be a blur, but you will be prepared for it.
Fifteen minute phone calls, supervised visits, monitored emails and snail mail will become your only lines of communication and interaction with family and friends. The way you are looked upon and treated by others is about to change dramatically. You are now an inmate. You are prison staff's inventory and responsibility. They have a job to do and if you choose to make it hard on them, they will make it equally hard on you. Be respectful, and respect will be given to you. This applies to the prison population as well. It does not mean to be submissive, but to remember your new role and where you are. You are a new inmate which means you will be scrutinized and in some cases tested by the population. You will need to learn how to circumnavigate your new social structure. There are similarities to the "real world", but some aspects, as you will discover, are very different. Our team at PRISON PREP, has experienced these nuances and will prepare you for the many changes that lie ahead. To go into detail right now, would be pointless. As we have mentioned, each case is unique and your plan for safety and success will be tailored specifically for you.
